The Kookaburra station sits in one of the prime spots on the esplanade, though its popularity means it can get a bit congested, especially during peak times. The electric hotplates are surprisingly well-maintained and clean, making it perfect for families or groups celebrating birthdays and special occasions. There's something wonderfully democratic about these free barbie facilities - anyone can rock up with their snags and steaks. The location is unbeatable, with lagoon views and that quintessential Cairns atmosphere. Just arrive early or have a backup plan, as the best spots fill up quickly.
